Robin Hood’s Bay & Whitby camping trip (Sunday)

Took a trip from Robin Hood’s Bay into Whitby today. The place has such a quirky unique charm about it. I like how you can take a picture and it looks the same now as it would have 100 years ago.

We did the traditional route around town, ticking off the walk on the seafront, the 199 steps, St. Mary’s Church, Whitby Abbey, the whale bone arch and a trip on the replica Endeavour ship.

Robin Hood’s Bay & Whitby camping trip (Saturday)

As a last minute decision on Friday we winged our way over to Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby, staying at Hook’s House Farm Campsite.

We arrived late on so pitched the tents in the dark and fumbled down the steep road to The Bay Hotel at the bottom of Robin Hood’s Bay where they served up a well deserved pint of John Smiths cask ale.

I woke up to a beautiful day with amazing views down over the bay. It does not get much better than sitting in a deckchair with a sausage sandwich and a cup of tea with views like these.

Given such a nice day I headed down to the beach to do a spot of treasure hunting before being chased away by Captain Crazy.

As always, I managed to find a load of starving ducks in much need of a good feed :)

The day was rounded off by a hearty meal and a pint back at the Bay Hotel courtesy of Alex.

World Fireworks Championships 2011 – Blackpool

Trecked off Blackpool way last weekend to catch the World Fireworks Championships. This also gave us a chance to try out Alex’s new camping gear.

We headed off to Great Birchwood Campsite and found the perfect pitch…

Check out the duckies :D

I had some seed packs on standby in the car so they got a good feed that weekend.

I got some good shots of the fireworks, you can check them out in the gallery.

Following some dodgy sweets ginger's tongue turned blue

Freaky Ginger

Check out Alex and his freaky tongue following some ominous looking sweets. I think this was the pack that came from an old style sweet shop selling properly sour sweets you’ll remember from being a kid. The assistants told us that we must be warned of how sour they are before they could sell them.
